Across Jordan Hat Company was birthed out of grit and enthusiasm. The daughters of a rancher, collaborating in their shared bedroom, pitched a design idea for a hat logo, and the creativity hasn’t stopped rolling since. Marriage and babies have moved them out of that bedroom, but the family vibes remain the same. Since that start-up, the rest of the family has jumped in. This family affair is rooted deep in the ranching lifestyle. We run cattle in the mountains of Colorado in the summer and a backgrounding yard in Southwest Missouri year-round. We give all the glory to God for this lifestyle we get to live. The cattle company, Across Jordan Cattle Company, was founded in 2012; the name comes from the Bible scripture of Deuteronomy 11:31-32, “You are about to cross the Jordan to enter and take possession of the land The Lord your God is giving you. When you have taken it over and are living there, be sure that you obey all the decrees and laws I am setting before you today.” This passage of scripture is an excellent reminder that when you get where you have been praying to get, don’t forget to honor the one who let you get there. When we started Across Jordan Cattle Company, it seemed as impossible as the children of Israel crossing the Jordan River; we have seen the Lord do amazing things; it is an absolute blessing to work in the cattle industry and watch something grow. Those same values apply to the hat company: God, family, and hard work. We are daily crossing the Jordan and striving to give God the glory for it by living a life and running a business that honors him.
